Does anyone know of an effective popup blocker spam and adware/spyware blocker?

P.S. I have limewire pro

The yahoo popup blocker works well for me. It also come with an anti-spyware program, to help remove spyware.

And then windows defender anti-spyware is also free, I would recomend downloading, both, it’s good to have at least two spyware programs.

Sign in to Yahoo! and click the Settings (avatar) button and click Add/Edit Buttons. If the buttons you want to add are not listed on the right side, click Button Gallery on the left, click the down arrow and click the button that you want to add, click Add and it will be added to the list on the right. Use the up arrow to move it to the top or near the top of the list in order for it to show on the toolbar. If you want a button removed from the toolbar, use the down arrow and move it farther down the list, or click the X to remove it completely. Click Save Changes. You might have to refresh the toolbar in order for them to show. To refresh the toolbar, click the Settings button and click Refresh Toolbar.

All the buttons that you have on the list on the right and are not showing on the toolbar will be under the chevrons (a symbol that looks like this >>) on the right of the toolbar.

So instead of taking the time to do a Full Scan what should you at least run a scan on if you wanted to save time? Full Anti-Spyware scan on my computer takes about 2 hours. If I wanted to run a shorter scan what are the most important folders or files to cover?

you are only scanning the most often used directories. The program can tell.

You should do a full scan at least once a month.

What’s the best free spyware blocker? I have malewarebytes, but I’d also like a program that actively checks and blocks spyware specifically.

Hi I am New Here, But I have to agree anti spyware in http://toptenantispyware.com site, I download the first and second, both have worked for me. I have bought them which gives me Adwatch. It runs in the background and will not allow any changes to the Startup portion of the registry.

On top of that I run registry cleaner software in http://toptenantispyware.com/registrycleanercomparison.htm

I was wondering which is more effective.
I am planning to get ESET Smart Security 4 with Antivirus and Spyware Protection but I am also wondering if I can get Ad-Aware/Spybot/Malwarebytes.

SpyBot vs. Spyware Blaster isn’t a fair comparison, because the two programs do two different things.

SpyBot Search & Destroy is a scanner/remover for spyware, and it has a real-time protection feature called TeaTimer. You can set TT to run in the background and if it detects spyware-like activity it will alert you and give you chance to stop the suspicious process before it does any harm. In that respect, it’s similar to an antivirus program.

Spyware Blaster is a program that has a lengthy list of websites that have been flagged as potentially harmful. Spyware Blaster adds those websites to your web browser’s "untrustworthy" list, so that if you happen to visit a listed website, your browser’s security settings are automatically set to maximum, to reduce the chance that harm will come to your computer.

Like an antivirus program, they both need to be updated: SpyBot with new and updated spyware definitions; and Spyware Blaster with new websites to add to its "bad guys" list.

Both programs are free, pretty easy to understand, and they aren’t resource pigs. There’s no problem with using both of them on your computer. In fact, I recommend that you do just that. Good luck and hope that helps!

I have A LOT of things on my computer.
Like Trojans, Dialer, Spyware, Back-door crap, Virus and al that. Im surprised I can still use this computer. So please!
Also any advice on how to avoid these things too in the future?

Use > "Save them to disk" option when down loading > Don’t open a file before you > right click on them and choosing to scan them with your anti virus software first. If the files show no virus after scan… then your safe to open them!

One firewall, one anti-virus and as much adware/spyware removal software as you feel comfortable with.

My Choices – Avast Antivirus -or- AVG, Superantispyware, Comodo Firewall Pro.

I’m pretty sure I have some spyware on my mac because I will randomly hear an advertisement when nothing is open. Is there any website where I can find free spyware removal for mac THAT IS LEGIT?

I’ve tried looking through other questions and I see that there are a lot of spammers posting links to "spyware removal" for PC even though the question is about a Mac.

A lot of programs that claim to be spyware blockers are basically nothing but spyware themselves.

I’d suggest going to http://www.tucows.com or http://www.download.com and get a spyware blocker from there – read what the site and users have to say about the programs.

Spy Sweeper from Webroot (http://www.webroot.com ) is a good one.
